Why Origins Or Sources Of Sapphire Matter A Lot

Some people believe that origins of gemstones like sapphire matters while some, those people who believe are usually those buying the larger and rarer untreated sapphires from the traditionally well-known mines of places such as Burma, Sri Lanka, Kashmir, etc. Also, if a colored stone sets a record at any auction, then it is an untreated sapphire or ruby from one of those locations, and the most vital thing that makes that auctioned gemstone important will be its quality, saturation of color, carat weight and of course its prominent origin.

Besides, valuation of imperative sapphires and rubies includes a synopsis of the entire gem’s qualities as well as linking that summation to what has been seen beforehand. However, a few places are known for smaller stones, thus when a big gem is found, the rarity of that gem increases meaningfully.

Map of Sapphire Mines around the World, Kashmir (India) should also be included:

Although Burma and Sri Lanka still have sapphire and ruby production, but Kashmir’s main years of creation only continued from 1882-1887 opening when a landslide high in the Kudi Valley in the Zanskar range of the Himalayas exposed lots of the now celebrated soft cornflower blue sapphire gems. The Kashmir source only gives a slow drip of sapphires into the market, and usually what gemstones collectors, lovers and jewelers see at the present time are Kashmir sapphires irregularly showing up on the auction block.

Sapphires Origins in Burma

Though you’re not out spending a huge amount of money for a sapphire stone, the origin of you’re the gem does still hold significance. However, if you want to choose what source is your preferred, you may be able to notice minor differences between blue sapphires from Sri Lanka. Burmese sapphires are inclined to be a shadier royal blue, whereas Ceylon blue sapphires have a tendency to be a lighter blue ranging to a well cornflower blue. So, do sapphire origins matter? Now, we can say yes, it matters a lot. Every stone has a story, a past, a present as well as an unknown future. But, knowing what you can of that story will be an interesting, expressive term for your sapphire engagement ring as well as the reason to spend a million bucks at any auction in the future, such as Christie’s Geneva, Christie’s Hong Kong, Sotheby’s Geneva, etc.,

There is an exception with the above said that is the Padparadshca sapphire. It is another sapphire that gets record breaking values at various auctions. Also, it is a pinkish orange to orangey pink sapphire that has been supposed to look like a sunset and a lotus flower. However pinkish orange and orangey pink sapphires have been originate in Tanzania, but their brown element distinguishes from the true Padparadscha sapphire from Sri Lanka. The Padparadscha is really a vital stone to own if you’re concerned in a sapphire where the origins matters.
