Blue Topaz Vs Zircon Vs Tanzanite

Do you know that December birthstones are all in the blue color with three now acknowledged, which are: blue topaz, zircon in tones of blue and tanzanite (the blue-purple variety of the mineral zoisite. There is another one that is  turquoise that is an opaque blue-green mineral. But, we are going to describe the first three one in this post.

Blue Topaz

Most splendidly, topaz comes from Brazil, but it can also be found in Russia and parts of Europe, Mexico, Australia, Africa, as well as the US. Blue topaz is the state gem of Texas. In addition, Blue Topaz is enhanced or treated by heat treatment, and gems that are blue now were earlier clear, but were enhanced by humans to become that way. Also, you can not do anything to remove the coloring that means so no special care is required. Topaz, a silicate mineral and a hard gem and is heat-treated to permanently improve their color. Traditional jewellery cleaners are safe to use on all colors.

Zircon

A 100 percent natural stone, which only adds to its striking beauty. It comes in several shades, right from clear to brown, to blue (the most popular version). Because of the  huge range of colors, zircons may be confused with topaz and aquamarine.  Today, most zircons are heat-treated to improve their color. Besides, Zircon was thought to protect the wearer from harm  when he or she is traveling during the Middle Ages. It was also thought to promote restful sleep,  wisdom, prosperity, spiritual growth and honor. Some Hindus believe that it can aid in spiritual growth even today. Zircon is mined in  Sri Lanka, Thailand, Cambodia, Australia and Myanmar at the present time. Also, the gem is a heavier stone than  others. However,  it can scratch very easily despite its density, so treat it with care.
Zircons are nesosilicate minerals as well as are relatively hard, but easily chipped too, so they must be stored carefully. In addition, heat treatment is sometimes less permanent compared to many other stones. Ultrasonic and  steamers  cleaners should not be used with zircon jewellery items.

Tanzanite

Tanzanite was competently named after Tanzania, where it was first revealed in 1967. Also, the name zoisite comes from the name of its finder, who is Baron Von Zois. Tanzania is the only place where Tanzanite can be found in the world. Apparently, this makes it a very rare as well as often very expensive gem. And, gem lovers are taken by the deep blue-purple hue of Tanzanite, and the most rare Tanzanite has prominent flashes of red too.

Today, most Tanzanite that you will see is a light to medium lilac color, and lighter Tanzanite is not inexpensive, but more affordable than the rare once. Regardless of what color of Tanzanite you wear, beautiful and bold Tanzanite expresses unique qualities of the holder or wearer. Tanzanite  impact resistance is rated medium to low as well as it discolors and melts under the heat of a jeweller’s blowtorch.
